As part of the 7th Asian Savate Championship 2026, one day Asian officials and arbitration seminar was organized in 30th April in Kathmandu university, Dhulikhel- Nepal, conducted to enhance the technical knowledge, officiating standards and practical skills of Savate officials from participating Asian nations.
The seminar brought together referees, judges, delegates, and technical officials to ensure uniform understanding and application of Savate rules and regulations.
The seminar was jointly headed by Mr. Gilles LE DUIGOU and Mr. Navjot Barjot with valuable support during the practical assessment sessions from Mr. Ibrahim Konate.

The Refereeing seminar commenced with an introductory session led by Mr. Gilles LE DUIGOU who provided a comprehensive overview of Savate as an international combat sport. The session covered:
- Introduction to Savate and its development in the international level.
- Fundamental principles and key competition rules.
- Roles and responsibilities of officials.
- Duties of referees, judges, official delegates and other technical officials.
- Importance of consistency, neutrality and professionalism in refereeing.
All participants actively engaged in discussions and received clarifications regarding the interpretation and application of competition rules.
Following the lunch break, Mr. Navjot Barjot conducted an in depth technical session focusing on:
- Detailed responsibilities of referees during competition.
- Judging criteria and scoring methodology.
- Interpretation of competition situations and decision making.
- Proper use and management of operative score cards.
- Procedures for recording and validating bout results.
The session emphasized practical aspects of officiating and aimed to establish uniform standards among officials from different countries.
After a short tea break, participants attended a practical training and evaluation session. Competition videos were projected for analysis, allowing officials to observe and evaluate real bout situations.
All participating officials independently judged the displayed bouts and completed the required score cards.
The evaluations were subsequently reviewed and assessed by Mr. Gilles LE DUIGOU De, Mr. Navjot Barjot, and Mr. Ibrahim Konate.
This practical exercise enabled officials to compare scoring approaches, discuss interpretations and receive expert feedback to improve consistency and accuracy in officiating.
The seminar was conducted successfully and achieved its objectives of strengthening officiating standards and enhancing technical competence among Asian Savate officials.
Participants demonstrated strong engagement throughout both theoretical and practical sessions.
Combination of classroom instruction and practical evaluation provided valuable learning opportunities and contributed to the continued development of Savate arbitration in Asia.
Asian refereeing seminar proved to be an important educational initiative within the 7th Asian Savate championship 2026.
Through the expertise and guidance of Mr. Gilles LE DUIGOU, Mr. Navjot Barjot and Mr. Ibrahim Konate, all participants gained a deeper understanding of Savate officiating principles, judging procedures, and competition management.
The seminar reinforced the commitment of the Asian Savate community toward maintaining high standards of fairness, consistency and professionalism in officiating.
