In these challenging times, many of our national federations and their member clubs have been forced to close and to cancel or postpone seminars and competitions. Some of our family members, friends and colleagues have been ill with Covid19, others have lost their source of income.

We are all shocked by the growing death toll across the globe.

As you are aware, at this time, the only sure way of restricting the spread of the Coronavirus is to stay at home and minimise contact with others.

Many of you will be aware of the motivational video competition that FISav has been running on our Facebook page.

Athletes and coaches from many countries have been sharing Savate and Canne de Combat techniques and tips for training at home. Thank you for all your videos, setting this great example, and encouraging people to maintain an active lifestyle, whilst remaining in isolation.

Please also convey my thanks to your members and continue to submit these inspirational videos in the coming weeks.
I would also like to take this opportunity to reassure you that the work of the international federation continues. The FISav office is closed, but Patricia and I continue to work from our homes. Commission meetings are being held online, and we continue to make progress on our strategic objectives and plans for the future.

Personally, I would like to thank you for your kind messages and for your enquiries about friends and colleagues in other countries.

We have many Savateurs working in hospitals, as doctors and nurses, and in other critical or frontline occupations - these include athletes, coaches, officials, commission members and many more.

Let us pay tribute to them and to all frontline workers who are bravely continuing their work to help others in difficult and dangerous circumstances. To support them, we must continue to observe social distancing and stand together in respect and friendship.
I look forward to better times when we can meet again and enjoy our sport together.

I wish good health and peace of mind.
